Carolee's Herb Farm in Hartford City, Indiana is a must see for those of you who live in east central Indiana (Between Indianapolis and Fort Wayne). I have heard about Carolee's for years and I have to say, shame on me for not going sooner. Carolee's has 20+ gardens, greenhouses, periennials, annuals and shrubs, garden decor in the Cottage and Barn Gift Stores, and so on. It was overcast today so the pictures I took don't do the gardens justice. Click on the picture to enlarge.

Carolee's has 60 different varieties of lavender so there are rows and rows of lavender. It is still early in the season so not everything is blooming.
The gardens
The butterfly garden with plants to attract butterflies such as Thistle, Joe Pye, Cosmos, Coneflowers, Butterfly Bush and on, and on, and on.

This is the east shade garden filled with hosta and a variety of shade loving plants for our zone 5.

The purple garden. A purple lawn chair, purple gazing ball, and all shades of purple plants. It was very striking.

Thyme garden. . .beautiful!
Cottage garden
Cranesbill Geranium in the cottage garden. This plant was about four feet wide.
Cottage Gift Shop. . .with all the things I love

Enchanted Forest. An area geared towards children with fairies as the theme.

Greenhouses / retail plant sales

Succulents and Sedum in hypertufa pots.

Sun perennials. Notice the Amber Waves Heuchera.

What a creative idea for a disgarded grill!
Barn Gift ShopDried flowers hanging from the rafters. The aroma was a little overwhelming.

A wide variety of Metropolitian Tea. I sat in the gathering room and had a cup of lemon tea. Delicious!
What a relaxing two hours I spent at Carolee's. I felt revitalized and ready to get my hands dirty. Carolee's is definately a place I will go again and will recommend to friends. I look forward to the workshops and events throughout the summer with the first being Lavender Daze in June!

I could lost in a place like that and never want to come out. Your peonies are beautiful. Mine have just finished. I hate to think now it will be 12 months before they come back in bloom.
I found you on Blotanical and thought I would come over and read awhile.
Me too - what a wonderful place to wander around all day. Aunty Cathy, Howard Pee Pugpants wants to know if pugs are allowed in the Enchanted Forest...
