Marion Garden Tour ~ June 21st

This is the time of summer when all the local garden clubs have their garden tours. Since I love gardening I try to attend a couple in our area. The costs of the Marion Garden tour is $5 and the proceeds benefit scholarships, a nature conservancy, and local civic projects.

I will start with a home in Gas City which was actually my favorite on the tour.
I loved the combination of the orange butterfly plant and the reddish-pink coral bells.
The south garden which is actually a small side yard had an assortment of blooms. I hadn't seen red Bee Balm in ages.
The front garden had a wide assortment of blooms and bird houses.
The home had a very nice front porch with all the things I like. The owners said they pick up most of their porch decor at local antique shops and auctions.

The second home on the tour was also in Gas City. There were a lot of craft items decorating the gardens. I liked these purple flowers. The owner said she had received a start from a friend and they had kept multiplying.

The third garden was in Marion and belonged to an 85 year old couple. Their gardens were very tidy and manicured. The couple told me they had put out 500 annuals this year. Can you imagine! (That is more work than I would ever do) Their perennial pink and blue Delphinium was very striking.

The fourth garden was in a heavily shaded wooded area on a slope with a lot of hosta, Coral bells and ground covers.
But the front yard had spots of sun loving plants.

The highlight of the fourth garden on the tour was the pond. There was variety of plants in the pond, but I am not able to identify them since I am not a water gardener. Around the perimeter of the property were hosta, peonies and ground covers.
